New beginnings

Have you ever felt that heart pounding adrenal rush right before you feel a change about to take place? That feeling that borders on excitement and fear but it's up to you to take which course; I feel this primordial reflex today - excitement! It's awesome how one act of kindness can throw your world into the right direction - the proverbial swift kick in the buns in my case. So what has caused all this excitement you ask: my Aunt has given me a vehicle!

As silly as this may sound to some it really is a new open door for finite possibilities; finite because I'm almost thirty years old! I know the first step is getting in gear (haha, car jargon) and going back to school. Then the search for the almighty throne of cubicle to supplement my fast track to whatever the heck it is I'm going to be. It never fails, when you're on the path of fail, to hear your mothers voice in your head telling you "if you would've only listened to me". Groan.

So fellow readers, I'd like to know what was a turning point for you while you were in a rut? It may have taken me ten years to wisen up but it took today to put things into action. It shouldn't have taken this long but sometimes all a person needs is an act of kindness to shift things back into place. I will be forever grateful to my Aunt! Cheers everyone!

Newspaper Craft Tutorial

I'd like to share with you all a little DIY tutorial using newspaper (and other things). I have an ever growing mound of newspaper and I had to find a good way to re-use them stat before my dining table became engulfed. So just to be clear, I still have a mound of newspapers but I did find a cool project! Yes - one project, don't judge. I did a quick search and came upon this site:

Check out How to Make a Paper Rose Wreath by Charissa Johaneson on Snapguide.
I absolutely love how it has a french country/romanticism feel, so I got to it! Once started though I realized it was going to take a butt numbing amount of time to cover the wreath I had bought.

TIP: If you're wanting quick results with this craft I'd stick with the smallest wreath you can find.

Many burns later, a growing pile of scraps,  and finding glue in places it shouldn't be I came to terms that this was going to be an accent on the wreath. I love crafting but my back can only take so much! I then rummaged through some the storage (here ties in the other things) and found three bunches of hydrangeas, FTW! I also wanted to add a little sparkle and grabbed a bag of gold acrylic beads, 10 minutes later I was done. This is the finished product:

So over all it was tideous but it was well worth the outcome. Hope you enjoy and TTYL :)

Welcome!

Well I thought I would never submerse myself in the blogo world, yet here I am. I am as green as they come with this sort of thing! For starters I guess I should say, hello! My name is Melani -- yes that is how you spell it -- no it does not have a fancy accent or a french twist. I can pretend though :) I hail from Texas where I was born and raised but I migrated to Arizona with my husband and our two cats: Rockso (a.k.a. turkey), and Lucie (a.k.a. crazy). I get easily distracted, I'm extremely introverted, I love loosing myself in deep thoughts, and loosing myself in creativity; the basis for this blog.

I hope with this blog I can make people laugh; though my humor is a bit vague. I hope to teach someone something new and most of all open a door that will take me somewhere not yet trekked. Sounds easy enough. Now where can I run and hide?! Jesting aside, I am ecstatic to share my crazy self to the world and make new connections with happy strangers. So, welcome to my blog :)
